Today we started checking out the National Mall. This area is massive and is filled with memorials, parkland, lakes and fountains. Spanning many miles, it has the Lincoln Memorial at one end and Capitol Hill at the other, with the White House, Washington Monument and Jefferson Memorial at the center. Also the Smithsonian and heaps of galleries and museums are located around the mall. We started at the western end with the memorials for the Vietnam Veterans, Lincoln, Korean War Veterans and World War I.
